THEATER SOUND TECHNOLOGY

DP4000 16 ch x 250w Amplifier with DSP:

The DP4000 16 ch x 250w with DSP is the heart of a dARTS system. The amp controls all aspects of the dARTS system. The DSP, or digital signal processor, allows the amp to fine-tune each speaker to within 0.5dB of its reference response. All functions are done in the digital domain — such as the crossovers, EQ, time correction and anechoic calibration — which are custom written for each driver in the system. It produces 4000 watts total with 16 output channels of 250 watts each.

dARTS In-Room Calibration System:

dARTS Digital Theater is the most cinema-true sound reproduction home system on the market today. dARTS Theater (Digital Audio Reference Theater System) speakers are perfectly calibrated at the factory, then calibrated again to your specific room. The end result ensures true sound perfection, regardless of the room’s acoustics. dARTS Theater is the most predictable speaker system you can own. Each speaker driver in the system is custom tuned to match within 0.5 dB of each other and every dARTS system is calibrated and aligned to a reference performance level. The system’s minimum SPL (loudness) is either 102dB or 105db in the listening area (depending on system and room) – that’s loud, precise and clear. With most theater systems there are 3 unknowns: the room, the speakers and the amp. With dARTS there is just one: the room. This makes the job of the calibration software that much easier. Once installed, our latest version of Audyssey® MultEQ Pro® room calibration software takes over and the specific sonic footprint of the room is taken out of the equation. MultEQ® cancels the room to achieve the perfect “reference” listening experience, providing a precise, acoustic performance matching the sonic quality of a precision-tuned movie theater, in any room.

28mm Patented Soft Dome Tweeter:

The 28mm Patented soft dome tweeter is a 1.125" tweeter that was patented by Bill Hecht, the creator of PhaseTech, in 1967. The 1.125" tweeter is larger than a typical dome tweeter giving it better dynamics and power handling.

5.25" and 6.5" Glass/Honeycomb/Glass Composite Woofers:

5.25" and 6.5" Glass/Honeycomb/Glass composite woofers used in dARTS loudspeakers are constructed of a three-layer composite of glass fiber - Nomex honeycomb - glass fiber (3LC). This is an extremely light yet incredibly strong composite which allows the driver to produce the sounds as quickly and accurately as they are electronically driven.

Absolute Phase Crossovers

Absolute Phase Crossovers were designed in the 1990s to create on-axis - or sweet spot above, below, and to the sides in both the horizontal and the vertical planes. This ensures great sound quality when listening at different locations. Absolute Phase Crossovers allow the sound to smoothly transition and blend seamlessly around the room. The Absolute Phase crossover ensures that the drivers are both acoustically and electrically in phase.

RPF Solid Piston Drivers:

Rigid Polymer Foam, or RPF, is the material that the PC woofer cones are made of. The RPF flat driver material is acoustically opaque. Internal reflections within the speaker enclosure can not transmit through the cone which can cause comb filtering over the driver’s operating frequency range. The drivers are also naturally time aligned with the baffle which allows the sound waves to launch at the same surface as the midrange and tweeter. This makes the RPF Flat Drivers one of the best sounding drivers made.

Patented Hybrid Bass Extending Back-Boxes

Low frequencies are augmented with our patented hybrid enclosure design which produces bass up to one octave lower compared to speakers using conventional enclosures. In addition to increasing bass, the hybrid bass extending bass box limits sound transmission to adjacent rooms.

Unicell Acoustic Treatment:

Unicell Acoustic treatment minimizes interactions with the tweeter and the cabinet or mounting wall resulting in amazingly precise imaging and clarity. Unicell surrounds the soft dome tweeter and absorbs sound waves that would otherwise diffract off the cabinet and wall. It lets the tweeter reproduce sound waves without interference — like it’s hanging from a thread in the middle of a room.

Patented Positive Clamping System

Extruded Aluminum Patented Positive Clamping System ensures accurate control of low end performance and a clear reproduction of the sound into the listening space. The Positive Clamping system assures elimination of vibrations from the walls by forming a rigid barrier around an in-wall speaker.

1" Thick MDF Baffle

The In-Wall and box speakers use 1" MDF to dampen any cabinet resonances.

Overload Gracefully:

Overload Gracefully speakers utilize a soft stopping mechanism when the woofer reaches its excursion limit, meaning the speakers will not “pop” or add any unwanted mechanical noise to the sound when driven very hard. This results in exceptionally clean sound at very high volume levels. It also makes the likelihood of mechanical failure much less likely. Drivers in the PC and dARTS series cannot be physically overloaded making them sound great even when driven to extremes.

Low Level Linearity:

Low Level Linearity produces great sound even at low volume levels.
